Yearly Recap: 2010

I am late, I know, I don't care.  Here it is anyway folks, my first ever yearly recap of 2010, if that even makes sense?

1. What did you do in 2010 that you’d never done before?
Trained for my second marathon and talked my husband into training for one too, does that count?  Completed my first year of residency.  Went to the Riviera Maya, Austin, Texas, and saw one of my bestest friends ever get married at Horseshoe Bay.  Walked the Golden Gate Bridge and left my heart in San Francisco.  Ran the coolest, most breathtaking 5K ever along the coast too.  Celebrated my second wedding anniversary!

2. Did you keep your new year’s resolutions, and will you make more for next year?

No, I stink at keeping resolutions.  Last year, my resolution was to be more organized...fail!  This year..not sure yet...is it too late?  I really need to give up chocolate and diet coke...  

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?

Yes!  Natalie & Jonathon had sweet Owen and Robby & Chelsea had their little angel Bobby!  So exciting!!!  This year even more people we know will have babies, its definitely in the water around here!

4. Did anyone close to you die?

No.  Thank you God! 

5. What countries did you visit?
Mexico and the Bahamas.  I am a lucky girl!

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?
hmmm....

7. What dates from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory.
July 19th.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Training for and completing a marathon training program while working the hours required of me.  Definitely time consuming and probably not the best decision on my part, but so worth it!  Another is getting halfway through my residency program, what a ride it has been!  So incredible to think of all I have learned and the awesome people I have met because of it.  And lets not forget celebrating another year of marriage, according to yours truly, every year is an accomplishment!  Best thing I have ever done!  I feel so very fortunate that so far our marriage has seemed so very effortless.  I am so very lucky! 

9. What was your biggest failure?
Beats me.  I don't know.  I am not one to concentrate on failures.  Eating too much chocolate, maybe? 

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
I was injured prior to starting the marathon training and forced to take a couple of weeks off.  And I always get sick, thats what I get for working with and hugging and kissing on kids all day long and I wouldn't trade it for the world. 

11. What was the best thing you bought?
The best things I paid for were experiences and memories...San Francisco, Mexico, and the Bahamas. Oh and lets not forget going to Roswell and Horseshoe bay for Alex's wedding stuff.  Ahhh, how I love memories with the ones I love the most.  Money well spent!

12. Where did most of your money go?
Probably to our trips...sorry hunny.  And I sure wouldn't change it for anything!  Oh and lets not forget our mortgage, and that...I probably would change!

13. What did you get really excited about?
Running another marathon at Disney World with my husband!  I freaking love Disney World!!!  Also, San Francisco blew me away, PUT IT ON YOUR BUCKET LIST PEOPLE!!!  It's so amazingly incredible.  I also get really excited when I get to see some of my best friends get married and/or become a mommy.

14. What song will always remind you of 2010?
I've Got a Feeling by Black Eyed Peas.

15. Compared to this time last year, are you:

– happier or sadder? Happier...most definitely.
– thinner or fatter? Beats me, I never weigh myself, I wear the same clothes.
– richer or poorer? richer in all aspects of my life, not talking financial either, cheesy I know!

16. What do you wish you’d done more of?

Taken more photos.   

17. What do you wish you’d done less of?

not going to answer this one either...

18. How did you spend Christmas?
At all of our parents houses.  We always go house hopping on the holidays.  It seems to be a tradition around here.

19. What was your favorite TV program?
Greys Anatomy and I am such a sucker for the Bachelor and Bachelorette...gets me every time!  Hook, line, and sinker! 

20. What were your favorite books of the year?
Dog books...go figure! 

21. What was your favorite music from this year?

Black Eyed Peas, I love them.  I also adore Carrie Underwood, her concert was pretty much the most amazing one, aside from Garth, that I have ever been too.   

22. What were your favorite films of the year?
Anything with romance and comedy.  I cant remember what movies we even saw, but I know there were a bunch of good ones!

23. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Andrew and I went to Rib Crib with my family.  Mmmm...love me some rib crib!  Then he threw me an awesome party with our most favorite people!  Thanks for an awesome birthday hunny!

24. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Less stress, but lets face it, everyone has stress, its how you deal with it that matters.  So I guess, learning how to deal with my stresses....hmm maybe that should be my new years resolution!?!?  Last year was such a challenging year, but I learned a lot and I don’t think anything could have made it more satisfying than it already was.  I wouldn't have changed a thing.  Except for maybe work less weekends, ha!

25. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
Hoodies and sweats, good thing "my baby loves me just the way I am." ;)

26. What kept you sane?
Running, my supportive husband and my awesome family and friends.   I love them!  I also love the people I work with, sure makes a difference! 

27. What was the most enjoyable part of your work?
The amazing people that I work with, they are all pretty incredible!  And of course the cute kiddos that I get to take care of, they make coming to work easy.

28. What was the biggest thing you learned this past year?
I can't do everything, no matter how hard I try.  And it's ok to ask for help.  Oh and that I am a bigger control freak than I ever realized! 

29. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010.

I learned tons and I love quotes so here it goes, what I learned, in quotes:

30. Freehand...
I challenge you all this year to live life to the fullest.  Don't sweat the small stuff and or take anything for granted.  Life is a precious gift, value it, as are the friends and family that make up this thing we call life, treasure them.  Take time to hug a little more and tell people how much you love and admire them.  Oh, and don't forget to give credit to The Man Upstairs for all of your blessings, He won't betray you, and if He brings you to it, you better believe He will get you through it!  I love you my dear friends and family, looking forward to another year even better than the last!

Birthday Blessings - January

Happy birthday Abby!  I love you and can't imagine my life without you.  I don't know how I would have gotten through college without you as my roommate for the last four years of it!  So much fun and so many wonderful memories with you!!!  I definitely wouldn't have my expensive jean fetish if it weren't for you ;)

Here we are in Dallas, during one the OU/TX weekends.  So much fun!


We also had quite a few memories out and about in Norman, having fun on the weekends!


We graduated with the same degree and almost side by side.  We also both left at the same time too...right smack dab in the middle of it!  Graduations sure can be boring!


Abby was a bridesmaid in my wedding...


As I was in hers.


I have never been so proud of her, as I was the day I saw her graduate from PA school.  A dream that I watched her achieve over the years.  Hard work and persistence pays off!  Go Abby Nutter Moeller, PA-C!


She also was there the day I graduated from medical school.  Thanks for being there dear friend, meant more than you will ever know!


And she has been there all the other times in between all of our major life happenings, through thick and thin, good times and bad times, sickness and in health, till death do us part, haha, you get the drift...I just love this girl to pieces.  She's one of the neatest girls I have ever met and I feel so blessed to call her my friend.


She is an amazing lady, with a ginormous heart and I am so glad that she asked me to be her roommate 10 years ago.  I simply cannot imagine my college years without her, nor can I ever imagine my life now without her in it.  We have so many wonderful memories together and many more to come!

I love you Abby!  I think you are amazing, incredible, talented, smart, funny, and have great taste in jeans!  I can not wait to see you as a mommy!

The Tree of Life

Disney's Animal Kingdom's Tree of Life is incredible.  If you read my marathon post then you know how obsessed I am with this tree.  Per Disneys website, "The Tree of Life, a sculpted 14-story (145-foot tall), 50-foot wide tree, is the centerpiece and icon in Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park. There is a swirling tapestry of 325 animals carved into the bark of this massive attraction.  Ten artists and three imagineers worked full-time for 18 months to create the 325 animal carvings on The Tree of Life."


It is so cool to see this tree with leaves so green tower over all the lush gardens of the park.  The pictures don't do it nearly the justice, but it is still fun to look at nonetheless.  How many animals can you find in the tree?  If I only would have known Mickey is somewhere to be found on the tree trunk, I would have obsessed over the tree way more than I did, annoying my husband even more, I am sure, at my fascination.  I guess its my turn to compare me to the kid in the candy store :)

Sean....a catchup post

My favorite aunt Susan and my cousin Sean came to visit us a couple of months ago.  We had so much fun.  Sean cracks me up.  His mother must take a million pictures of him because I can get him to pose any way I ask him to.  He is too funny!  And growing up way too fast. 







We also went to the Christmas Train while they were here.  It was really cold that night, but fun nonetheless.  Hot chocolate, Santa, the real meaning of Christmas, and wonderful family, what more could one want? 






I had so much fun seeing my family.  I sure wish we lived closer to them!

No More Pictures!

My husband has this new found obsession with taking pictures.  And....he is actually getting pretty good at it.  He has been using our dogs as his subject A LOT lately, which I love!  However, he has been taking so many pictures of Roxy, that when he grabs the camera, Roxy runs and hides in her box.  This picture that he took of her the other day just cracks me up.  I can just image what she is thinking..."Please, I beg you, NO MORE PICTURES!"

More of Colorado

Colorado was so much fun that I thought I would share some more pictures.  Enjoy! 



This is a picture of the condos where we stayed.  They were so nice and super cozy!  And the view....It was incredible!!!  I can't wait to go back!

The view from our balcony was breathtaking!  And Matt and Kim aren't so bad either ;)

We went to the ski lodge one day to watch all of the other crazies ski and snowboard.



And then we went shopping!  I love Breckenridge, such a fun town with great shops!







Even Doris tried to ski...kind of...we may or may not have been just staging the pic...I will never tell!



Mmmmm....yummy crapes, almost as good as Kendall's!

Colorado - Heaven on Earth


We decided to bring in the New Year by going to Colorado with Andrew's family.  Can I just begin to tell you how beautiful Colorado it?!?!  It's breathtaking!  If I wasn't afraid I was going to freeze to death, I think I just might move there.  My husband and his family all ski...I shop!  I tried skiing, once.  I ended up hurting my knee and will never try again.  Doesn't bother me a bit though.  Luckily for me, Andrew's grandma and step-mom didn't ski either.  We all three shopped, it was great! 








I had just got done working a month of nights the morning we left.  My wonderful hubby made me a soft and cozy bed in the back of the truck so I could sleep while he drove.  It was great!  The drive up there went so quickly, so it seemed for me.  We even saw windmills in Kansas, or whatever they are.


We had so much fun!  It was great to do a whole lot of nothing after a month of dreadfulness.  I ate and slept and read and shopped and had so much fun with my husband and his family, it was awesome and a great way to bring in the new year!


Oh, and I rode a moose...

sort of :)

The down part of the trip....Andrew getting the flu!!!  He was so sick the day before we left and the rest of the week.  Not ideal for the week prior to our marathon!  Poor guy...  For once, I didn't get sick, I got a flu shot though!  Next year, so will he!
