37 Weeks

September 27, 2012

Pregnancy Stats:
How Far Along: 37 weeks

Size of baby: over 6 lbs and 19 inches long, like a stalk of swiss chard, hmm...
and the size of a watermelon...yikes!
Total Weight Gain: 15 pounds so far...weigh in at the dr in the am though.

Gender: It's a GIRL!!!
Movement: She moves so much, I thought the baby's movement was supposed to slow down a little, but hers...not so much.  She's a fiesty little thing already!  She is still hanging out under my right rib cage....ouch!  Hoping she comes soon, I am ready to meet this little monkey and my ribs are ready to have their space back ;)
Sleep:  I can't remember what it was like to sleep well...oh well!  I go to the bathroom 3-4 times per night and roll back and forth 10 times a night.  I am getting prepared for having a baby wake me up at all hours of the night, but I can't wait till its actually my baby waking me up!
What I miss: A good nights sleep, being able to move without pain, running/exercising.
Cravings: Cold things and chocolate, nothing new.
Symptoms: Pain/pressure/fatigue/braxton hicks contractions...However, nothing major to complain about still. I've been blessed this pregnancy.  Thank you God!
Maternity Clothes: Yep!  Ive also stolen some of my brothers shirts and apparently my dads hoody.  Whatever works, right? ;)  I am still so greatful that I am able to wear scrubs to work! And so thankful my husband really doesn't care what I wear or look like for that matter.
Best Moment this week: Making it to full term!  You can come anytime now baby girl!  We are so ready to meet you.

How to tell if your husband is going to be a good dad...

In honor of my husband's 30th Birthday today, I thought I would post 30 of the 100+ reasons why he is already the best dad ever to our baby girl that we get to meet in just a few short weeks.

1.  He downloads the app "What to expect when you are expecting," before you even know there is such a thing, and recites to you, from memory, things you should begin to experience, and continues to do so every single week.

2.  He then continues to question you daily about specific symptoms you may be experiencing.

3.  Not only does he download the app, he posts in their forums asking for advice on names.

4.  He asks you questions like, "does your back hurt," because he has read that it is probably going to start hurting soon.

5.  When people tell him congrats, he replies, "Thanks I am pumped!"

6.  He posts things on your facebook wall, like "Starting to feel a bit off balance? As your belly grows, your center of gravity changes, so you may begin to occasionally feel a little unsteady on your feet. Try to avoid situations with a high risk of falling. -love you"

7.  He refuses to miss a doctors appointment.

8.  He remembers things to ask the doctor that I have forgotten.

9.  He talks to my belly and makes me put the phone on it so he can talk to the baby when he is not home.

10. He buys books on amazon entitled, "Dude You are Going to be a Dad," and "What to Expect When You are Expecting...for Fathers."  And then he actually reads them!

11. He tells me he is never going to change a diaper and I know without a doubt, he is completely kidding.

12. He asks how his baby is doing every single day.

13. He tells me the only gifts he wants are to do with the baby.

14. He can't wait to get the nursery furniture in so he can put it together.

15. He then spends a friday night putting the crib together because he is as excited as I am to get the furniture in.

16. When we go to target, he really wants to look at the baby stuff and points out things to me that will look good in the nursery.

17. He reads books about how to be a great father and then tells me about them.

18. He researches diaper bags that I may like.

19. He tells me often that I am "providing a good home" for our baby right now.

20. He wants to have his private time with our baby, so he talks to her under the covers.

21. He starts taking guitar lessons and practicing daily so that he can play it for our little girl.  He then learns how to play the specific lullabies that I ask him to.

22. He tells me often how much he can't wait to meet this little baby.

23. He insists on buying the tiniest little GOLD ballet slippers that she will probably only wear once...if thats not a sign of her already being wrapped around his finger, I don't know what is.

24. He takes me to see the movie "What to expect when you are expecting," and doesn't complain one bit.

25. He realizes how tired I am and doesn't hesitate to cook dinner for me every night after we get home from work.

26. He doesn't complain about my "honeydo" list for him and asks me what order I would like them to be done in before the baby gets here.

27. He tells me all he wants for his birthday is a healthy baby girl.

28. I hear on a daily basis that he just "can't wait till his daughter is here."

29.  He actually knows what kangaroo care is and thinks it is a great thing!

30. He loves me and this baby more than anything else in the world.  He hasn't complained one bit about my weird pregnancy related idiosyncrasies.  He gets me, he tries his best to understand the way I am feeling and does what ever he can to support me.  How did this sweet baby girl and I ever get so lucky?

Happy Birthday dear husband of mine!  Turning 30 doesn't seem so bad when you have something so special to look forward to in the very near future, does it?  I love you to the moon and back and can't wait to see you as a dad to our little kickboxer!

36 Weeks

September 20, 2012

Pregnancy Stats:
How Far Along: 36 weeks

Size of baby: 5 lbs 12 ounces, size of a crenshaw melon, whatever the heck that is,
and around 18.5 inches long
Total Weight Gain: 15 pounds so far...

Gender: It's a GIRL!!!
Movement: She moves a lot still and her movements have become rather painful at times, probably because she is getting bigger and bigger, and running out of room.  Her eviction notice is coming soon!  She still likes to camp out on my right side under my liver and rib cage and just hang out.  She's claimed this space since day 1...not going to be a type A personality at all ;)
Sleep: I give up with sleeping well. I always get up a couple of times, to go to the bathroom or roll over to my other side, which takes a lot of effort, believe it or not. I have a feeling my days of sleeping are loooooong gone, and that is fine with me.
What I miss: A good nights sleep, being able to move without pain, running/exercising. I read that my uterus is up to one thousand times larger than before I got pregnant...which makes me feel huge and slow...yep that pretty much sums it up!
Cravings: Cold things and chocolate, nothing new.
Symptoms:  Pain...And that's all I am going to say about that.  Braxton Hicks.  However, nothing major to complain about still. Praise God for that!
Maternity Clothes: Yep or shirts a size too big for me when I am not growing a watermelon, but mostly I just wear my husbands t-shirts and a pair of running shorts. And Thank God for being able to wear scrubs to work!  So thankful my husband really doesn't care what I wear or look like for that matter.
Best Moment this week: Getting a good report at the doctor!  We hung pictures up in the nursery finally.  It's coming along!  So ready to get this room finished.  Have to get the bookcase my dad made me next week and I think we will be good to go!

35 Weeks

September 13, 2012

Pregnancy Stats:
How Far Along: 35 weeks

Size of baby: 18 inches long and probaby weights about 5 1/4 pounds the size of a honeydew.

Total Weight Gain: 14 pounds so far...I go back to the doctor tomorrow for yet another weigh in.
Gender: It's a GIRL!!!
Movement: She moves a lot, but I have noticed her slowing down just a tad bit, probably because she is slowly running out of room in there.  She still likes to camp out on my right side under my liver and rib cage and just hang out.  She must be territorial like her mommy.
Symptoms:  Back and neck pain, and crazy heart burn. Nothing I can't deal with. I have nothing major to complain about. Praise God for that!
Maternity Clothes: Yep or shirts a size too big for me when I am not growing a watermelon, but mostly I just wear my husbands t-shirts and a pair of running shorts. And Thank God for being able to wear scrubs to work!
Best Moment this week: My mom and my sister coming down to help me with baby things and washing the baby's clothes.  Sooo very surreal.  And I would be lying if I didn't tell you that it brought tears to my eyes once I realized I was actually washing MY baby's clothes.  I feel so so blessed and grateful for this amazing baby girl that we are just a few weeks away from meeting!  And I thank God for her every single day.

9/11

"I will never forget this awful time, as I grieve over my loss. Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends. His mercies never cease. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each morning." Lamentations 3:20-23

34 Weeks

September 6, 2012

Pregnancy Stats:
How Far Along: 34 weeks

Size of baby: weighs about 4 3/4 pounds (like your average cantaloupe) and is almost 18 inches long
Total Weight Gain: 14 pounds so far...feels like sooo much more.
Gender: It's a GIRL!!!
Movement: She is still moving and kicking and rolling and punching and readjusting like crazy. Feeling this baby move is still one of the best feelings ever, it's a very reassuring feeling! It sure can hurt sometimes though!  She's definately growing like crazy!
Sleep: It's hit or miss. I always get up a couple of times, which I am ok with, its just challenging to go back to sleep. What I wouldn't do for a peaceful, sound nights sleep, I miss that...
What I miss: A good nights sleep, being able to move without pain, running to clear my head...heck, I miss all exercise at this point. I'm pretty sure my husband thinks I am crazy when I ask him to help me up all the time or just "push" me. It's amazing what carrying around a watermelon will do to your ability to function like a normal human being.
Cravings: Sweets, nothing new.
Symptoms:  Hip, back and horrible neck pain, I haven't really had any more braxton hicks contractions, but I do get crazy heart burn.  Nothing I can't deal with. I have nothing major to complain about. Praise God for that!
Maternity Clothes: Yep, but mostly I just wear my husbands t-shirts and a pair of running shorts.  And Thank God for being able to wear scrubs to work!
Best Moment this week: Seeing my baby.  Getting more accomplished in the nursery.  I'm feeling crafty these days and even made a mobile for her nursery...and I also painted the nightstand for her room pink, after my sweet husband sanded it for me.
