Happy Halloween!

Macy was an angel for Halloween.  Roxy was an ADD freak who was impossible to snap a picture of.  Jaxon was a ticked off doctor.  He wouldn't let me get a great pic of him.  I may try again tomorrow while my very not-so-much approving husband is at work.  Don't tell!  Isn't Macy the sweetest little angel you have ever seen?!?  I just love her to pieces.

We went to the Pumpkin Patch this weekend and took a ton of cute pics of Macy.  Macy was so cooperative and loved the pics so much she even let Lexi be in them with her ;)  Aren't they just the cutest!?!  More pics to come soon!  P.S. Please sense the sarcasm.

I guess tomorrow I will be taking all the decorations down and getting ready for Thanksgiving!  That means I am only 24 days away from putting up the Christmas tree!!!

Trick or Treat!

Breakfast Smoothie

Thanks to pinterest, my husband and I got the great idea to start making our own breakfast smoothies a few months ago.  We Andrew has been making them for us for breakfast pretty religiously for the past couple of months.  They are delicious and super nutritious!  They are roughly only around 300 calories and 2 grams of fat.  We use our magic bullet to make them, so they come ready to go after they are blended.  What's in our smoothies you ask?  We Andrew combines....

Oats

Greek Yogurt

Mixed berries (& sometimes bannanas).  We used to buy fresh fruit and add ice to make it colder, but these are frozen, so no ice needed, and much more convenient.

& Spinach - I know what you are thinking...gross!  right?  You can't taste the spinach one bit, it blends up very well and its loaded with antioxidants and vitamins.  Try it!

And there you have it!  Put it all together...

Blend...

And enjoy!

The best part about these is that you can mix and combine whatever you like.  Sometimes he adds peanut butter or nutella, and sometimes he adds Acai berry juice and wheat germ.

You can thank me later ;)  Thanks to my awesome husband for always making these for me and leaving them in the fridge for when I leave for work.  He has even been making them for me when I am on nights, so I have one to drink when I wake up!  I love him!  And I love these smoothies!

Painted Pony Ball

We were invited to the Painted Pony Ball this past weekend.  The Painted Pony Ball is an event put on by Saint Francis to raise money for the Children's Hospital.  It is a fancy dinner, auction, and entertainment by the cast of the Jersey Boys.  The theme this year was 60's glam, and since I am not much of a theme party goer, my 60's glam was my pearls ;)  Andrew and I went with our friends Natalie and Jonathon and had a great night out.  The dinner was amazing, as you would think it would be for as much as a seat to the ball cost.  Thankfully our tickets were given to us.  They auctioned off about 20 different prizes each going for amounts well into the thousands, if not tens of thousands of dollars.  It was insane!  While we did not partake in the auction, we did have a great date night out on the town with some great friends.

Here are the boys doing their "skinny arm" girlie pose.  Well, they are trying anyway...Need a little more practice boys.

Weekend Randoms

I had lunch with one of my oldest dear friends a couple of weeks ago.  It was so great to see her and catch up!

My mom and dad finally went on a vacation, together, with no kids, and no dogs.  It's about time mom!

After a little break, I've been trying to get back into my running routine.  Getting back into shape is no fun.  Oh how I am itching to train for something...

I have some of my Halloween decorations up!

I've become obsessed with self-help books.  I also started reading The Help 2 months ago and still haven't finished it...HELP!?!

Andrew and I recently saw two movies.  The first one was Moneyball, with Brad Pitt, very good!  Then we recently saw What's Your Number.  It was super cute!  I loved it!

I am working nights this month.  I hate nights.  No let me rephrase that...I HATE NIGHTS!  But I am working with a great resident.  As much as I hate working nights, this last month of nights that I have to work ever, is waaaaaaay better than the past few...way better!  We have had some really sick kiddos in the hospital recently.  They could definitely use your prayers.

We have an exciting weekend planned ahead of us.  I heart weekends!  Well, the ones I don't have to work anyway.  I am so looking forward to the day I never have to work weekends again.

I am secretly wishing hoodie season would hurry up and get here.

Andrew had his 10 year reunion this past weekend.  He had fun and I dragged my sweet friend Cassie out with me to keep me company.

My sister made me some delicious chocolate chip oreo cookies today!  I hid them from Andrew.

I got to hang out with my dear friend and college roommate Abby (& Micah and Maelee) yesterday.  It was great!!

Andrew & I photographed a wedding this past weekend.  It was fun, but no more weddings for me!

I don't know how to keep mums alive...I think they hate me.  :/  And yes, I water them.

Ok I think that is enough randoms for this post.  Ta-ta for now!

Macy's Heart Appointment

You may remember this post that I wrote last year about my dog Macy.  If so, you already know that I have been taking her to a vet cardiologist at OSU in Stillwater for the past 3 years now.  This past Monday, Macy had her yearly check-up.  I was a little nervous about taking her.  The cardiologist that she had been going to the past few years was no longer there.  There was a locum cardiologist, ie traveling doctor, working there for now until they hired someone.  This made me nervous.  I hate change!

My mom went with Macy and I, as she does every time, thank goodness!  I'd be a nervous wreck if I had to go alone, and especially if I heard bad news!  When we got to the small animal hospital, Macy knew right away where we were.  She usually gets nervous when we go to the vet and shakes, like most chihuahuas do, but this time was different.  She got soooo nervous and anxious.  She was panting and her eyes were wide open.  She was so scared, it was making me nervous.  The past few times I took her there, they usually take Macy for a couple of hours or so to do the echo or chest xray and call me to come pick her up when they are done.  It had been no big deal, but due to her extreme anxiety this time, I was so worried about leaving her with strangers.

The vet cardiologist came in and did his exam and explained things to us.  He was so nice and I was immediately at ease with him.  This was a good change!  When it came time for the echo he asked me if I wanted to stay and watch!  Are you kidding?  Of course!  I felt so much better getting to stay with Macy and help calm her down.  I couldn't believe he was going to let me stay and watch.  God was answering my prayers, that's for sure!

Macy's appointment went well!  Her heart size is stable and she currently is not requiring any meds!!  Thank you God!  Thank you to all of you who said a little prayer for my baby!

P.S. Does anyone find it interesting that the OSU veterinary clinic is named after David Boren?  Boomer Sooner!!

"Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us, and they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day.  It is amazing how much love and laughter they bring into our lives and even how much closer we become with each other because of them."

September

I was kinda sad to see September come to an end.  It was a pretty nice month.  I was working with some pretty awesome girls if I do say so myself.  My attending liked to refer to us residents that were at OSU this past month as "Team Princess."  On our last day of the month, she bought us all princess crowns and wands...Can you tell we are a bunch of pediatricians?!?

We had some pretty funny moments last month....like scaring the crap out of Cerissa.  Best. Scare. Yet.  (by me...to her)  For those of you that don't know, my funny hilarious awesome friend, Cerissa, loves to scare people.  She started all of this and is notorious for jumping out of the most random places, ie underneath tables and closets, to scare students, residents, and attendings.  Now...she has all of us scaring people, including her.  Childish, maybe so?  But so much fun!  She's created a bunch of scaring monsters, including one out of my husband, who now jumps out of the most random places to scare me ;)  Thanks Cerissa for creating this scaring monster out of me.  I have so much fun scaring you!  Now, if only I could get a good video of it...
