Lolo is sick

Last Thursday, Lolo woke up with a fever.  She was burning up when I got her out of bed.  I gave her some tylenol and her fever quickly broke, she ate and seemed to be ok during the day.  She napped for a long time that day.  When I got home from work, she was burning up again, fever was higher, and she just did not feel good.  She had no other symptoms though.  Friday and Saturday she was still running a fever, but they were lower than they were on thursday and she seemed to be doing ok.  Sunday during the day she was almost back to normal.  She was smiling and having a great time at Lexi's second birthday party.

Then came Sunday night...

Sunday night was one of the worst nights ever.  My poor sweet little baby woke up every 30 minutes the entire night screaming in pain.  And she never cries.  I wasn't sure if it was the broccoli I gave her that was causing her to have gas or what was going on.  It was seriously awful.  I've never felt so helpless.  And I am sure Andrew felt the same way.  I would rock her back to sleep each time and then 30 minutes would pass and we would do it all over again.  She would cry inconsolably for about 5 minutes and then drift back to sleep.  She cried so hard that she had little broken blood vessels around her eye.  It was so sad!

I called in sick to work Monday and took her to the doctor.  Ironic, right?  I want to be Lolo's mom, not her doctor, so I do what everyone else does, I take my child to her pediatrician.  By the time I got her to the doctor she had another fever and then broke out into a rash.  It was pitiful!  Poor girl.  She ended up having a horrible ear infection.  I felt so bad.  Thankfully, with a little motrin and a long nap, she was acting better that afternoon.  It took her a few days, but by this weekend, she was finally acting like her happy-go-lucky self!  Thank goodness!

Midweek Randoms...

Lolo is finally feeling better!  Thank goodness.  That was rough!  Post to come soon.  We take her back to the doctor today actually for a recheck and immunizations.  I know what you are thinking...ironic that I am a pediatrician and I am taking my child to the doctor.  Right?  However, I am a mommy first to this sweet girl and will take her to her pediatrician just like all you other mommies out there for her check ups, sick visits, and immunizations.

Speaking of immunizations...I HATE them!  It's so sad to see her get them and feel crummy afterwards.  Poor girl.  I wish I could get them for her.  I get why parents don't want to immunize their children...but I also know the benefits of it as well.  Thank goodness, or I would probably be one of those immunizing refusing parents myself!

Lolo loves it when her daddy plays the guitar for her!  I snapped this pic the other day, isn't it so cute?!?

We had a great weekend spent with friends and family!  We dressed Lolo up in the dress we bought her on our babymoon to Hawaii and went to the Cheesecake Factory in Tulsa, delicious!  We then went and looked at houses!  Finally decided on where we are going to live...So exciting!!!

On Memorial Day, I put Lolo in the pool for the first time!  She LOVED it and it deserves a post all its own soon :)

My First Mother's Day!

Celebrating Mother's Day was very surreal.  I still can't believe I am a mom.  I can't believe there was a time not too long ago where I wondered if I would even get to be a mom.  Oh, how my heart still aches for those still longing to become parents.  I still pray God blesses those struggling with infertilty as he has blessed me..us.  I pray for them to be able to experience the most amazing of experiences.

I am in awe of my beautiful little blessing daily...still.  Being a mother is the greatest feeling in the whole entire world.  It is a love like no other.  And I feel so so so blessed God chose me to be Lolo's mama.

I have a wonderfully amazing husband.  Once again...blessed.  He brought me breakfast and gave me the sweetest cards, one from him and one from Lolo.  It was too cute and so thoughtful.  He had a necklace made with a heart on it and Lo's name on the outside...which I find so very touching since having a child is really like taking your heart and letting it walk on the outside of your body, as cheesy as it sounds, its so very true.  He also got me a willow tree, my favorite.  It is of a mom holding her sweet baby.  I love it.

I got to spend the entire day with my husband and my baby and wouldn't have had it any other way.  It was a perfect day.

Thank you hunny for making this day super special and thoughtful.  Lolo and I love you to the moon and back!

Mother's Day Eve Eve

As Mother's Day approaches, I can't help but think back on the past year.  The day I found out I was going to be a mommy remains one of the best days of my life.
The day I became a mom was even better.  And now, being a mother, entails some of the best days of my life. And they just keep getting better. For longer than I can remember, I have wanted to be a mom. Not having children was never an option for me. Needless to say, the year that we weren't sure that we would be able to have children was a rough one for me. Then February 9th came, where our dream of having a family became a reality. And October 5th, when sweet Lolo blessed us with her presence, was the best day ever.

Now that she is here, I cannot imagine my life without this sweet blessing from above.  I can't even begin to tell you the love I have for this little girl, and somehow it continues to grow every single day.  She is the light to a long dark tunnel in our past.  And a light she is!  She is the happiest little girl I have ever been around.  Always smiling, always laughing, always in a good mood.  She just loves life!
So as much as Mother's Day is about celebrating moms, I feel its also about celebrating these sweet little blessings given to us by God. They are who make us mothers after all.
Lolo I love you to the moon and back.  Thank you for making me a mommy.  You are one of life's most amazing suprises and we love you so very much.

Lolo - 7 mths

Lolo,

You are 7 months old!  Can you believe it?!  I can't!  Pretty soon we are going to be celebrating your one year birthday, unbelievable!  You are so so sweet!  Such a happy little girl.  You hardly ever cry.  You just love life!  How did we get so lucky to have such a great baby? :)

Your little personality continues to blossom.  This month we started doing baby led weaning instead of feeding you pureed baby foods.  You love this so much more.  I really thought you just hated food until I let you feed yourself.  One of the main reasons we did this was because your daddy found an article online that showed what was really was in baby food! No way was I feeding you that!  You love bananas, pears, apples,  and sweet potatoes.  You also love your sippy cup and drinking water from it.  You get so excited everytime I hand you your cup.  If you see mommy or daddy with a cup of water you immediately think it is your water and grab it and put it to your mouth.  It's pretty funny the look of determination you get in your face.

You are sitting up so good on your own.  You are still talking/babbling away and squealing at times.  You have started reaching for us when we pick you up after work.  It's the sweetest thing.  You recently found your tongue and love sticking it out.  You started mocking your daddy the other night by blowing your tongue at him after he did it to you.

You went on your first vacation this month to Branson and did so well!

You have started playing by yourself some in the mornings while we are getting ready.  You love your stackable bowls and sophie.

You have two bottom teeth coming in at the same time.  You handled them so well and was only fussy one day.

You have become a little attached to your little blankie.  Recently you started falling asleep on your own for naps in the swing if you are given your lovey.  Now we just have to transition you out of that swing into your pack-n-play for naps...You sleep so well in the pack-n-play at night, but we just aren't quite ready to get out of the swing for naps yet.

Your cousin Lexi just adores you.  When Aunt Shannon watches you and I come to pick you up, Lexi makes sure to tell me that you are "her mama's wowo" and "no no coco."  She even went so far as to cry so hard because I came to get you.  It was pretty cute.  I hope you guys become best buddies!

The amount of joy you bring to our lives is just unbelievable sweet girl.  We love you so so much!  I don't know how I can grow to love you more everyday, but I do.  I thank God for you every single day and for letting me be your mama :)

Lolo's first vacation!

This past weekend Andrew, Lolo, and I packed our bags and went to Branson for the weekend!  We had so much fun.  We stayed at Big Cedar Lodge and it was amazing!  Our little cabin overlooked the lake and was just so cute!

It was rainy the first two days we were there so we just hung out at the cabin and went shopping for a bit.  The first night there we ordered room service because we got in late.  We placed the tray outside the next morning and almost immediately heard a clanging of the tray.  I couldn't believe that someone was coming to pick it up that fast!  Then Andrew got smart and looked out the window and saw this..

The squirrel was enjoying our food as much as we did ;)

We bought hot dogs and cooked them in the fireplace the second night.  It was so relaxing and fun!

Lolo had a blast on her first vacation!  She is becoming such a big girl!

The last day we were there we walked around the resort and took pictures.  (More pics to come) The resort is just so nice and rustic!  I loved it and definately could have spent more time there.  We must go back!  It was so nice to get away and just hang out together.  Lolo did great.  She slept pretty good both nights and napped ok on the go and in our bed once.  She's such a happy little girl and we are so so blessed!

I sure do love my little family!  And if you love Branson, or just relaxation, check out Big Cedar Lodge!  Its awesome!
