Macy's Heart Appointment

You may remember this post that I wrote last year about my dog Macy.  If so, you already know that I have been taking her to a vet cardiologist at OSU in Stillwater for the past 3 years now.  This past Monday, Macy had her yearly check-up.  I was a little nervous about taking her.  The cardiologist that she had been going to the past few years was no longer there.  There was a locum cardiologist, ie traveling doctor, working there for now until they hired someone.  This made me nervous.  I hate change!

My mom went with Macy and I, as she does every time, thank goodness!  I'd be a nervous wreck if I had to go alone, and especially if I heard bad news!  When we got to the small animal hospital, Macy knew right away where we were.  She usually gets nervous when we go to the vet and shakes, like most chihuahuas do, but this time was different.  She got soooo nervous and anxious.  She was panting and her eyes were wide open.  She was so scared, it was making me nervous.  The past few times I took her there, they usually take Macy for a couple of hours or so to do the echo or chest xray and call me to come pick her up when they are done.  It had been no big deal, but due to her extreme anxiety this time, I was so worried about leaving her with strangers.

The vet cardiologist came in and did his exam and explained things to us.  He was so nice and I was immediately at ease with him.  This was a good change!  When it came time for the echo he asked me if I wanted to stay and watch!  Are you kidding?  Of course!  I felt so much better getting to stay with Macy and help calm her down.  I couldn't believe he was going to let me stay and watch.  God was answering my prayers, that's for sure!

Macy's appointment went well!  Her heart size is stable and she currently is not requiring any meds!!  Thank you God!  Thank you to all of you who said a little prayer for my baby!

P.S. Does anyone find it interesting that the OSU veterinary clinic is named after David Boren?  Boomer Sooner!!

"Such short little lives our pets have to spend with us, and they spend most of it waiting for us to come home each day.  It is amazing how much love and laughter they bring into our lives and even how much closer we become with each other because of them."
